Earlier this week, we had the good fortune to attend the only Queensland screening of the fashion documentary Ellery in Paris, hosted by the beautiful Carly at TCF Connect. What a dynamic group of people they are, and we are happy to have them as new friends. Thanks again Carly.
The feature length film, shot entirely in black and white, follows Kym Ellery as she arrives in Paris a week before her debut at Paris Fashion Week. Bare in mind, only three Australian designers have ever been asked to show in Paris, the others being Collette Dinnigan and Martin Grant. And, Kym Ellery is only thirty years of age. That’s impressive.
There’s a lot of love for Kym via interviews with family and friends and her team at Ellery, as well as key fashion people including Vogue Australia editor Edwina McCann, and Leandra Medine (aka. Man Repeller) all clearly excited by her talent. Kym never drops her smile throughout the entire 90 minutes on film, and has an energy that you can almost feel. Her Australian girl charm shines through, and her drive and ambition is evident. It’s not hard to see why success is hers for the taking.
We can’t wait to see what she does next.
